Founded by the Phoenicians around 1000 B.C., Nora saw a particularly splendid rise during the Punic period, whereas the city’s present achitectural landscape originates from the Roman and late Roman periods. The theatre built during the Augustinian era alongside the Forum, the mosaic floor remains of the central thermal spas, the area of the macellum or “market” and of the great seaside thermal springs dating back to 100 A.C., up to the “house of Atrio Tetrastilo”, of the 2nd - 4th century A.C., and the Sanctuary of Esculapio, found on the extreme tip of a seaside hilltop, are just some of the monuments which make this archeological landscape one of the most symbolic and important places to visit in all of Sardinia.Guests of Lantana Hotel & Residence can reach the city of Nora in a short and pleasureful 15 minute stroll.
